Oh I agree with the idea behind the whole article, and I know that there is nothing called free lunch, however I have a question.

Call me dense (or uninformed) but I am not sure how the guy who breaks traffic laws is responsible for terrorists coming in through the sea?

@Baskar

Wonder if what you have written gets termed as destiny by people. And should we look at our self as an individual than a part of the majority. And being accountable to your self is the method to be confident about the future.

@Amit

Fair exchange? The long term benefit of that dinner is gonna be more than the cost of that expensive dinner. ;)

J.Krishnamurti contends that there is no such thing as cause and effect. Every cause is born of a previous effect, and the effect is itself the cause of something else.

My actions may not harm me, but someone else will pay for it. And in the long run, I will pay for someone else's crime. If the whole environment is corrupt, there is no clear winner. What is won here, is lost elsewhere.

If the roads are bad, and the traffic is heavy, and the drivers are rash, a certain number of accidents is sure to happen. You cannot in advance identify who the victims would be- some rash drivers will get away with it, and some careful drivers will get hurt. Statistically speaking, this result is bound to be. It is the population that is affected, but the individuals will face the brunt of it.

We say that fishes have an advantage in swimming as large schools. But even there, lots of fish get swallowed, but the school survives. The dead fishes gained no advantage, we say, but the live fishes did survive.

They might enjoy a free luch, but the dead fish paid for that!

I also heard it termed as "the law of fair exchange" I take a client out for dinner in order to keep their services. It wasn't free for either of us. :-)
