Krishna, the Consciousness of Bharat

Celebrating the birth of an individual (God/Man/Woman/With Form/Formless) who is responsible for the nation that is India (Bharat). The oldest surviving philosophy and definitely, despite any arguments, one of the oldest cultures of the world. A sample of what he said:
“Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. Reasoning is destroyed when the mind is bewildered. One falls down when reasoning is destroyed.”
Such thought prevailed in Bharat in around 3000B.C. Is it religion or is it a part of a philosophy, a truth obtained from the kaleidoscope of life. Nowhere does he talk about hurting religions or philosophies and there is no strict dogma to follow. The hard working farmer or student is equal to the priest who dispenses advice and they should honour the dharma of one another. Today Krishna temples across the world ask the followers to chant his name in public because Krishna likes it. Refusal to do so does not signify disobedience but a thinking mind. You could also spend that chanting time in solving a science project, reading a book or taking a walk with a girl. Chanting is a way to be in touch with your self; self-awareness is important to build an identity and by taking Krishna’s name you are only remembering your self because in Indian philosophy, you are a God or can become one. Remember the times you repeat the sight of your vision; ‘I will win the award’ or ‘I will not be scared in school’.
Do you ever stand in front of the mirror and say to your self, ‘I am looking very good today. I am smart and shall have a great time today’? You are reinforcing your belief, your ‘self’. God is nothing but you. And your work.
For those who have low self-esteem, Krishna is a way of reaching your inner-self. Krishna here implies the Supreme and faultless deity. You could even chant your mother’s name if you feel she is faultless and inspires confidence; parents are also a form of God. The idea is to connect with the supreme and then see the supreme within your self. Continuous chanting of Krishna is wasteful if you do not work upon your self. The goal is to be confident and work towards achieving your goals in life. When you work, you pray. And you are God.
This is one of the ways how India has survived the most barbaric foreign rule. We lost our land when we lost our confidence, our identity. We must never lose it again.
In an email message on the eve of his birthday (August 13), I wrote my thoughts on Krishna:
- Celebrating the Birthday of an individual (God/Man/Woman/Idol/Formless) who inspires science and spirituality.
- Who likes his devotees to sing and dance in His name, or even remember him solely through their work.
- Who offers counsel and advise but doesn’t punish or condemn your views.
- For whom the priest in the temple, the man in the laboratory, the woman that nurtures are alike.
- Who knows that a woman is powerful, so that we call our nation our motherland.
- Who knows that a woman is powerful, so that he asks her to lead the man to dharma.
- Who says that a man must create, so that we are Gods ourselves.
- Who supports evolution and progress, so that India (Bharat) is the mother of science and spirituality.
- Who propels you to question him, so that you always think.
- Who tells you to be naughty and flirtatious; to live your life.
- Who tells you to respect yourself; more than you respect anybody.
- Who says that when you pray to God, you pray to yourself, to your intellect, to your sense of self-respect.
- Who asks you to be Krishna yourself, be a God, work towards being the best you can.
- Who tells you to use your mind and question things, including all these words I have written.
In Indian philosophy, Gods pray to Mother. Indian thought recognises that women are the bearers of life. We call our country our motherland. Although women are intelligent and wise, they can also be evil. This doesn’t go down with some modern day feminists. Who then proceed to hunt down woman-blamers and in turn end up proving that women can indeed be evil. [Nice line]
Krishna dude… you are so…so in trouble
“One gradually attains tranquillity of mind by keeping the mind fully absorbed in the Self by means of a well-trained intellect, and thinking of nothing else.”

what i like about Krishna is that he escapes all labels: there is no unambiguous rule to take from him, except possibly, “do your duty”- and even that, we have to find out on our own.
