What if Rajbala were your mother. + What if I attacked the Delhi ‘slutwalk’ers?

Kartikey Sehgal

What if Rajbala were your mother?

Then you would post facebook updates in her support. You would make facebook groups and pages.

Why don’t you? Because Rajbala is not someone you aspire to be. If an author/pilot/astronaut or a rich woman were in Rajbala’s place, then you would show sympathy and rage. What does Rajbala wear? Salwar-kameez? Does she converse in English? Then why should we bother. If she were a minority member then we would have something to complain about.

Nobody bothers …

Lessons for India from the Norway tragedy

Kartikey Sehgal

Indians have a lot to learn from the Norway blasts and murders. Indians – that’s you, the middle-class to urban category; the rest of the Indians don’t have to think so much – they have to look for food and survive.

Norwegian police arrested 32-year-old Anders Behring Breivik, a right-wing extremist who rocked Norway in twin attacks Saturday. Breivik is responsible for Friday’s bombing and youth camp massacre in Oslo, Norway. source

Such attacks will happen when society is closed for discussion. When …

DNA’s shoddy journalism and India’s ‘familiar’ attitude of slavery

Kartikey Sehgal

[The proposed series on Male Ego and Feminism has been postponed. Read on India’s first ‘slutwalk’, here]

DNA (Daily News and Analysis, a newspaper) has successfully deflected the entire blame of the Mumbai blasts onto one person. They have successfully indulged in the Indian habit of deflecting from issues and indulging in needless drama and theatrics.

No, the person who planted the bombs at bus-stops and bazaars may have been an Indian local (an Indian Mujahedeen Muslim), but what DNA’s self-flagellating subs …

You are on your own in Mumbai

 Kartikey Sehgal

Black leather shoes that casually stepped on a child’s yellow faeces spoke better of India’s problems. The faeces had more character than the men.
At best, these people will offer you condolences should you lose somebody in a bomb blast. That would be insufficient, considering that these are people with no vision, who choose to live in dirt and muck… What can they possibly offer you intellectually or spiritually.

“Would you like to visit Dadar and Opera House together? I could get …

Hypocrisy of ‘Freedom of Speech’ in India

Ananth Venkatesh

[ Other recent stories by the author: The Double Standards of ‘Freedom of Speech’, Hindus in the Netherlands, The Failure of Islam in Multicultural Europe]

Another related issue that comes to mind relates to the extent of artistic and creative autonomy that should be granted to writers and painters.

In a state like India, what has engendered considerable Hindu unhappiness is that the paintings of the Late MF Hussein, which depict unclothed Hindu Gods and Goddesses, are regarded as a …

The Double Standards of ‘Freedom of Speech’

Ananth Venkatesh

[Previously written by the author: Hindus in the Netherlands, The Failure of Islam in Multicultural Europe]

I have to declare that Europe, especially after overseas decolonization, has been a society very ready to discuss the ills that plague modern Christianity. Certain facets of Christian history and the invidious Christian role in European imperialism abroad have been denounced firmly and, at times, with certain ruthlessness. Therefore, Wilders has the right to decry the bellicosity that exists in certain clauses of the …

Hindus in the Netherlands

Ananth Venkatesh

[Follows “The Failure of Islam in Multicultural Europe”]

Note: The Dutch people are native to the Netherlands. Holland is a region in the western part of Netherlands. Though commonly accepted, Holland is not the same as Netherlands.

It isn’t as if Wilders is anti immigration outright. One hasn’t heard Wilders excoriate the Hindu Dutch citizens i.e. the Dutchmen and Dutchwomen of Indian bloodline.

Most of the Dutch inhabitants of Indian lineage currently have Indian ancestors, who immigrated in the 20th century …

The Failure of Islam in Multicultural Europe

Ananth Venkatesh

The news of the judicial exoneration of Geert Wilders, the far-right Dutch MP, has re-energized the debate on the degree of multiculturalism in the democratic and pluralistic Western half of the European continent.

Ananth writes that Muslims from the middle-east countries are interested in the better living conditions provided by European-Christian nations. However, if the Muslim intention is not to assimilate but to impose their way of life upon the host nation, then their immigration to Europe must be put to a stop.

The Feminist System comes into place

Kartikey Sehgal

[Previously written:
‘Misplaced Morality’ of Women
Women hurt Women through Feminism]

We said in the earlier story that feminists in power make laws to suit women and their followers change society to suit women. When society is changed to suit women, feminists come to power.

Who are these feminists? They are political leaders, writers, social activists and other women in power. They either make laws or exert considerable pressure to make laws.

Some of them do so in the belief that they …

Women hurt Women through Feminism

misplaced morality: women picking and choosing morals to suit their purpose.

Every woman has the support of feminism and feminist-based laws. A woman may be comfortable with her husband’s peculiarities and behaviour but should she, on any given day, decide to teach him a lesson, she could complain of harassment.

Say, a woman is okay with her husband’s uncleanliness, drinking and pinching. She will, always, have the power to use these very habits to label her man a sadistic monster who, ‘pinches my …
